Not much to rave about here folks. It's exactly 3 feet long (they don't short you), and works like any other optical digital cable. if you need an optical cable, and 3 feet is long enough, get it.
I bought this to help connect multiple sound sources to my tuner/amplifier and run sound through my main surround speakers. It seems well made--better than some others I have. So far, it works just fine.

At this price, this is deifnitely the best Optical cable out there. A comparable brand for the price is Radio Shack's generic Toslink, and this does the job better, with crsper sound at a few dollars less.
Nice product. Looks nice, easy installation. Seems to be of high quality material. Not much experience with fiber optic cables...but I wouldn't hesitate to buy this product again.

I'm usually a big fan of Belkin, but this optical cable has such a poor fit in my receiver it's disappointing. I had to use a cable tie alongside another wire and now it is resting where it is supposed to go, but not solidly held in place. There's no need to spend ridiculous amounts of money on Monster's high end cables, (digital is digital is digital), but their bargain variety is a better option than this.
This cable is perfect for transfering digital sound to your Home Theater system from any additional player. It seems very good with the gray color and comes with protection for the tips in case you diconnect it.
Be careful with the length, it could trick you if your two equipments are some far (notice that it is only three feet long). But for those that don't want to have a lot of cables hanging from the back of the stand, this is the one.
I'm using it for transfering the digital sound of my playstation 3 to the audio receiver. I'm very satisfied.

The first reviewer is somewhat correct. Don't spend too much on digital interconnect cables....the digital format is used so quality will not depend on the transfer medium, that's the whole purpose of digital.
I'm an electrical engineer, PCM audio for all intents and purposes is a pretty slow bitstream, you could use pretty cheap cable and not notice a difference. Just my humble opinion.
You can't plug two of these in side-by-side, the plastic surrounding the business ends are too fat.

I own it, use it and have no problems with it. Positive digital sound transfer with some loss over long distance runs.( I tested it) Monster, buy once and never need to replace it, until you die.
I have always been an audiophile, and look for the best sound that I can get out of my home-theater environment. I've tried numerous types of cable connections, including a Monster Digital Coaxial cable. I thought that sounded good, until I connected up the THX-Certified Digital Optical cable... it unleashed an entirely new level of audio performance out of my existing DVD player and receiver. I was very impressed.
The price is also quite reasonable... if you're looking for a good connection for top-end audio quality, this is the way to go.

The Amazon product description doesn't do its justice totally. It is a stylistic translucent cable. Moreover, it includes a pair of female/3.5 mm male toslink adapter, neatly attached to the cable. (See my own images attached.) Most importantly, it is 6 feet long. (I don't know how the product description can miss this information. Who cares that it is one pound, as described in the description.)
Another great deal from Amazon. Delivery was good, product works great & the price was better. After shopping around for the best price in BestBuy, Walmart & online, this was the best deal.

These cables work very well and I have not noticed any sort of signal loss whatsoever. The ends are plastic but seat firmly in the A/V equipment receptacles. I have the cable running under the carpet and so far (3 months) they have held up well.
Very good upgrade for the very cheap price. Good quality, durable. The length is very nice also, Love it!

Monster ULT I1000FO-4 Ultra 1000 Toslink Fiber Optic Audio Cable (4 feet) Reviews
I got one of these for .97, on clearance at Radio Shack (from .99). At this price, it was worth it, but I could never pay for one. Best bet is to get a used or open-box one from a place like Ebay, for much less.
Here's the deal folks. You cannot make a digital signal "better." Either the signal gets through, or it doesn't. Either the cable works, or it doesn't. Monster Cable, purveyors of ludicrously overpriced audio/video accesories designed to capatilize upon the naivete of buyers and the rampant superstition in audio/videophile circles, apparently saw fit to create not just one line of overpriced digital optical cables, but to make two different versions: Monster "Standard" and Monster "Ultra." "Ultra" of course, costs more than twice as much as the "Standard," but the kicker is that THEY BOTH WORK EXACTLY THE SAME. You will not notice a difference between them.
Those 1s and 0s going through a digital cable either get through or not at all, contrary to what Monster Cable would have you believe. I can imagine Monster Cable telling us that the 1s, with their sharp, angular edges, have a harder time flowing through the cable than the rounded 0s, and that the only solution is their own, speciality brand cable. Buy your digital cable elsewhere and avoid these clowns.

I've bought several of these cables and have been very happy with my purchase. I've used them for hooking up my Gaming Systems, TV, Cable Box, and Receiver/DVD Player. (Note: I had to buy a small 3 in 1 Fiber Optic Switch Box to handle all these cables -my Receiver and TV only had one digital audio connection each.)
I believe that these cables are the best name brand VALUES currently around for Fiber Optic Audio.
What do you REALLY get for a "high end" fiber optic cable that is triple the cost of this cable? I don't know. I purchased one (which was "top of the line") and obscenely expensive, and of course it sounds great, but these cables sound great too. Plus, these cables ARE Monster cables, AND they are THX certified!
What does THX certification mean? Below is a blurb taken directly from the THX website describing it:

A digital signal is a digital signal. This is fiber optic cable -it uses light to transmit the digital data -it doesn't degrade like analog based on the quality of the cable. So these cables are NOT likely to give you a worse audio signal than more expensive cables, they just are going be a little less durable, and probably use slightly less high quality materials. Are they fragile? Not at all, but the top of the line cable that I purchased was so thick that I probably could have stepped on it on cement and it would have been fine. This THX cable is thinner and I could imagine it breaking more easily. If you work somewhere (like a studio) where there is a good chance of rolling things over the cables from time to time on a hard floor then you might have a good reason for a more durable cable. (Same goes for cables that are going to be manhandled regularly -i.e. a lot of plugging/unplugging and bending of the ends).
Overall, I'm very happy with these cables and can I afford to buy a bunch for all the fiber optic audio connections I am now using (i.e. Receiver, TV, Cable Box, Xbox/Playstation/Gamecube)
(P.S. for first time users, don't forget to pull off the tiny plastic coverings on each end of the fiber optic cables. These are there to protect the cable during transit/storage and will prevent the light from passing unless removed. Throw these tips away; you'll never need them again.)
What exactly is a fiber optic cable? It transports sound using a digital signal. In fiber optics, light is used to transport this digital data. The digital signal is made up of 1 and 0. 1 being light, 0 being no light.
I recommend using the Monster Standard Cables and always will. I actually did try different cables unlike most people who talk about the cables all being the same.
So how should I decide between buying a "high end" fiber optic cable and an ok one. Well, the fact that it is triple the cost of this cable kind of gets me. I purchased a top of the line, Monster Cable THX Ultra 1000, that was really expensive. The Ultra 1000 is more durable, and uses higher quality materials that transport the light more efficently. Yea it did sound slightly better. But if you plan on using it for a CD player or a cheaper surround sound system, you won't need the really expensive stuff. This does perfectly well. But even for me, I ended up returing the Ultra 1000. Why you ask? The quality didn't meet the price. Its not worth it unless you plan on building a top of the line home theater that you plan to use every day. For most people, this cable will be more than enough of an improvement that they'll notice the difference and be happy enough.
You should keep in mind that when you use surround sound, that in order to actually achieve the full 5.1 surround sound that you should use digital fiber optic cables for all the sound inputs that you can use it for. (CD players and video cassettes don't have 5.1, most only have 2.0/1.0 respectively)
Overall, I gave this Monster Standard cable a 5 because there is no 4.90.
Notes for new users of these cables:
- Make sure your DVD player or Cable/Satallite reciever has the fiber optic output, as a lot of the cheaper ones don't.
- Pull off the plastic protective coverings on each end of the fiber optic cables. These are there to protect the cable during transit/storage.
- Be careful not to bend the cables around too much or strtch them to meet the distance you want them to reach. Buy a longer one if you need to.
- If the black coating on the cable gets striped a bit, consider buying a new cable, as the damage allows light to seep out, thus, distoring the quiality.
